Technical Tip of the Month

PISA for Mitral Regurgitation (MR):
When measuring PISA radius, shift the color baseline in direction of flow and set the aliasing velocity to between 35-40 cm/sec. If the measured radius is less than 0.4 cm, don't bother calculating. It is mild!
Severe MR: ERO ≥ 0.40 cm2 and RV ≥ 60 cc.
